Algorithmic Determination of the Rational Cohomology of Complex Varieties via Differential Forms

چکیده
We give algorithms for the computation of the algebraic de Rham cohomology of open and closed algebraic sets inside projective space or other smooth complex toric varieties. The methods, which are based on Gröbner basis computations in rings of differential operators, can also be used to compute the cohomology of intersections of smooth closed and open subsets, and in certain situations the cup-product structure. We give some examples which were carried out with the help of Macaulay 2.

Effective de Rham Cohomology - The General Case
Grothendieck has proved that each class in the de Rham cohomology of a smooth complex affine variety can be represented by a differential form with polynomial coefficients. We prove a single exponential bound on the degrees of these polynomials for varieties of arbitrary dimension. More precisely, we show that the p-th de Rham cohomology of a smooth affine variety of dimension m and degree D ca...
متن کاملExtendable Cohomologies for Complex Analytic Varieties
We introduce a cohomology, called extendable cohomology, for abstract complex singular varieties based on suitable differential forms. Beside a study of the general properties of such a cohomology, we show that, given a complex vector bundle, one can compute its topological Chern classes using the extendable Chern classes, defined via a Chern-Weil type theory. We also prove that the localizatio...
متن کاملRational Points and Coxeter Group Actions on the Cohomology of Toric Varieties
We derive a simple formula for the action of a finite crystallographic Coxeter group on the cohomology of its associated complex toric variety, using the method of counting rational points over finite fields, and the Hodge structure of the cohomology. Various applications are given, including the determination of the graded multiplicity of the reflection representation.
متن کاملAlgorithmic Computation of Local Cohomology Modules and the Cohomological Dimension of Algebraic Varieties
In this paper we present algorithms that compute certain local cohomology modules associated to a ring of polynomials containing the rational numbers. In particular we are able to compute the local cohomological dimension of algebraic varieties in characteristic zero.

for i < d, where WΩdX is the sheaf of De Rham-Witt (DRW) differential forms of degree d constructed by Bloch and Illusie. This is because H(WOX)⊗K is the part of crystalline cohomology with Frobenius slopes in the interval [0, 1[, while Hi(W,WΩdX) is the part with slope d ([9] cor. II.3.5). The author gave an erroneous proof of this corollary (in fact, an integral version) in an earlier preprin...
